Micah Collier
Micah Aléc Collier is among Chicago's young and most promising bassists, teachers and composers. His love of traditional jazz and funky bass lines helps to create a powerful musical voyage for any of his listeners.
Micah has participated in and is deeply shaped by Chicago’s jazz scene. He has participated in The Jazz Institute of Chicago’s Jazz Ambassador program and Ernest Dawkins Young Masters program, while being mentored by international musicians Vincent Davis, Michael Manson and Junius Paul.
Micah leads his band, the AlècTet, across the Chicago area performing at venues such as Dorians, Andy’s Jazz Club, The Jazz Showcase, The Promontory and the Pritzker Pavilion. He also regularly performs in international festivals such as the Belgrade Jazz Festival, Heidelberg Jazz Festival, Le Guess Who Festival, Worldwide Festival and North Sea Jazz Festival. Micah has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with notable artists such as Marquis Hill, Keyon Harold, Makaya McCraven, Kendrick Scott, Aja Monet, Ambrose Akinmusurie, Dee Alexander, Kenneth Whalum, and Isaiah Collier.
Releasing his debut album “Becoming” back in Sept 2023, Micah Collier brings a new resonance and honesty to contemporary jazz. He expands the understanding of jazz to be inclusive of other genres and creates music that feels good to the soul!
